The picture shows me standing beside our S&S Santana Vision
on the road to Chateau Bonaguil, the ruined castle in the
background, in the Dordogne/Lot region of France.
"We couldn’t bear the thought of carting our regular uncoupled tandem through airports and subways, in taxis and rental cars. So we ordered an S&S Santana, and a few months later found ourselves in the Dordogne region of France.
We couldn’t be happier with the bike. The first time packing took me almost half a day (wrapping everything obsessively in the S&S padding and bubble wrap inside two soft cases), but so far we’ve made two trips to Europe with nary a scratch, dent or any other mishap with the bike--or any problem with the airlines. We’ve even carried the cases on our backs (while hefting a couple of regular suitcases as well) through the streets of Paris from the Metro to our hotel many blocks away. I can’t imagine trying that with an uncoupled tandem, though I would advise taking less stuff than we did on that trip!
The bike’s performance? Indistinguishable from our uncoupled tandem. Or in other words, great. I figure that if someone has any intention of traveling with a bike, it doesn’t make sense not to get one with couplers. In fact, I’ve ordered my first new single in 26 years -- an S&S Erickson."

3-15-2001 "We already have an S&S Santana Vision but an extended test ride of an Erickson impressed us so much that
we decided to splurge on another tandem -- S&S, of course! We haven't actually
gotten the bike yet, but Glenn just sent us a picture of the finished frame.
