You are about to enter the world of family cycling, where healthy living is a group activity, and the joy of exploration is intensified because it is shared. We hope you like it here, because as your family grows, so does ours. But first, a few words about us:
Burley is family. In 1975, a group of bicycling enthusiasts dreamed of a fair and decent workplace dedicated to environmental protection and human-powered transportation. From these simple ideals grew Burley Design Cooperative, a family of cyclists bringing cycling to families.
Highest quality engineering. We make trailers, trailercycles, tandems, recumbents, and raingear because we love cycling. Our passion demands perfection, from the components we choose to each meticulous weld. So of course, every Burley product comes with a lifetime warranty.
Made in the USA. That's right. Every product in this catalog is made here in Eugene, Oregon. As a cooperative, every owner is a worker. There is simply no better way to assure quality than to purchase products made by people with a stake in their business and a passion for what they do.
Good for the environment. Wherever possible, we use ecological manufacturing methods, such as recycling, and even "precycling." We order the materials we need, tubing for example, in specially cut lengths to reduce the recycling load, saving both energy and materials.

ChroMoly steel is the ideal tandem tubing, and Burley uses USA-made ChroMoly tubing by True Temper. For 2000, this proprietary tube set features new oversized and double butted tubes. Strong, light, and resilient, Burley's tandem frames and forks are guaranteed for life

Take a close look at their precise welds and beautifully executed details. This obsession is not just cosmetic - you will feel the difference on the road.
Components
Examine the specs for each of our tandems. You'll find tandem-specific components (not single bike groups) carefully matched for optimal performance, durability, and value. After the frame and fork, wheels are the most important tandem component. Burley tandems (except Zydeco models) feature Wheelsmith stainless steel spokes, and every wheel is trued and tensioned by hand.
