Burro Bike
Builder Profile

...for those who believe modern mountain bikes are for the racer,
not the explorer...

About us

An explorers bike that performs superbly at low speeds, steep climbs and difficult terrain. With key design elements such as 44mm wide rims, 3" low pressure tires, and steep steering geometry, the Burro is especially designed for the explorer. A "hiker", not a "runner", gearing is very low for steep climbs and a more relaxed pace... Finally an alternative for those who believe modern mountain bikes have been designed for racers, and NOT explorers!

A Note: from 'Greg Rawuka', Burro creator

I see bicycling in an evolutionary context as something necessary for human happiness or existence. The more people that join together in the interest, the further the technology advances. Bicycles fulfill everything within one thing. Just like cars they are a means of transportation, they are also toys that bring the child out in everyone accompanied by huge smiles. Just like a sport they are a form of recreation and great exercise inspiring physical fitness. The best part though of it all, is that the bicycle is human powered. There is nothing like using your own human power while becoming fitter, getting further and having fun, all the while knowing that no matter whether the world goes to shit, you'll still have a ride.

Whatever the bike you choose, the risks involved are just enough adrenaline to give you focus. Whether racing or riding, there is a bike made for everyone. The same bike can be set up as many different ways as any rider needs, but it is the earths vast differences, peoples need to explore beyond where others have, and the variety of terrain out there, that inspired one bike to handle it all, the Burro.

You could buy a xc bike with dual suspension good for sticking to the trails and fireroads. You could buy a road bike for traveling great distances alongside cars at high speeds. You could buy a downhill bike to ride the chairlifts up and the bike down the hill only. You could buy a BMX bike for dirt jumps or for playing with the kids at the local track. The fact is, you could own one type of each bike like I did and just keep buying parts and upgrades and storage to house them (I owned a bike store), or you could buy one bike that will go anywhere comfortably with parts that will last forever and inspire you to explore.

Whatever the bike, it is your power and it's fun, faster than walking but easier on your body than running. Infact the Burro is the most comfortable bike I have ridden day in and day out. That's why I created it. I wanted to explore, be comfortable and use parts that worked.

Now we have a ski for one or both tires that allow you to descend in snow. We have front suspension to make the hard hits that come with offroading, a little smoother. As we have explored we have made a few adjustments. We have added disc brakes for superior control in the crazy places your Burro can take you, like streams and rivers, snow and sand. We made a smaller burro (the burrito) for the adoring smaller people that want to start going along on your adventures with you.

Between the remote ice lakes of Alaska and hunters in the woods in the mountains and travelers that only get a small amount of vacation time to go a long way, you will find the Burro is everywhere. Now I have been commissioned to make a fold down version for military and another with a motor attached for various uses.

If you would like to try a Burro, we invite you anytime to come along on one of our rides. We are located in Big Bear Lake, CA. (909) 866-6588 or order a Burro and get a 100% satisfaction guarantee along with it.
