About Deo Gloria / Witt Custom Bicycles:

Witt Custom Bicycles was founded as the brand of Deo Gloria Bicycles, Inc. in1996 by Ty and Cindy Witt, but really began  when Ty stumbled into the bicycle business in 1985.  Now what began in a garage, and had outgrown its first two locations, has settled into an old bakery near downtown Kennewick, Washington just a stones throw from the Columbia river.  There, Ty builds world class custom and limited edition bikes for all cycling pursuits.

Since each bicycle is custom made, we don't have geometry charts and specifications as a mass produced bike would.   The benefit to this is that you get a superior riding bike with the look you want.   The downside to this is that with so many options it can sometimes be difficult figuring out just what it is you want.  To that end we have developed a series of models based on the types of bicycles our customers most often have us build.  Each one is still very much a custom bike designed around your body and open to any changes you might want.  We offer these styles as a suggestion of what your bike could be like, but we anticipate that most people will make one or more changes.   Of course you could jump in with both feet and work with us to create your own special bicycle starting with the proverbial blank sheet of paper.

Why buy a Witt?

With all of the quality bicycles on the market today, you may want to know why you should buy a Witt Custom Bicycle.  If you are looking for a premium bicycle you will find brands with the names of a famous racer, you will find brands with prestigious European names, and you will find brands whose names are synonymous with large production and equally large advertising budgets.  It is my hope that you will also find me, Ty Witt.

I have ridden and raced for many years, though I am not famous.  My frames have not been ridden to countless European victories, though they certainly could have been.   And mass production is not in my business plan, because I build each frame by hand.  People buy my frames, not because of a media blitz, but because they fit great, ride great, and look great.

When you purchase one of my custom frames, you complete a eighteen page order form that tells me everything I need to know about you as a cyclist.  Your anatomical dimensions, riding style, and personal preferences are all a part of the order form.  Also included are a complete list of options as well as a blank diagram where you decide how the bicycle should be painted.

Every production bicycle or frame is designed for the elusive "Joe average".   You may need a longer top tube because of your long torso.  Or you may be average in height but very light in build -- a stock model would use heavier tubes than may be necessary and therefore ride harshly, not to mention the weight.  The bike may be an adequate fit but not handle the way you like. Etc. Etc.  The point is everyone wants a bicycle that places them in the most efficient position for power and performance, rides comfortably, handles like an extension of your mind, and looks like you dreamed it would.

You see, cyclists ride my frames because they are made just for them, and it shows every time they go for a ride.                           -Ty Witt

Every couple of months, in the Featured Style section, we will introduce one of these models of either a road, mountain, or specialty bike in detail.   As each new one is introduced the previous one will be archived for your access.

Road Bikes

At Witt Custom Bicycles road bikes are our specialty, (That's Ty cruising along the Columbia).  Our bikes have been pedaled across the country, raced in stage races, and even cruised down to the local coffee house.  The paved road is a much more controlled surface than a mountain bike trail.  Because of this, road bike geometry can vary greatly to suite the needs and style of the cyclist without adversely affecting the ability to efficiently roll down the road.

In our Buyer's Guide we ask questions like: "What priorities do you place on comfort, acceleration, and climbing performance?" and "How do you want your new bike to handle?".  We are not saying that comfort comes at the cost of climbing performance, but instead we learn more about your cycling personality, which helps to better design your bicycle.

Complete bicycles are a great value and are built with Campagnolo and Shimano components in kits with outstanding specs.

Mountain Bikes

Witt mountain bikes are available for a variety of pursuits.  From lightweight NORBA style race rigs to loaded touring adventure bikes to the now popular single-speeds, we can build what you want.  Complete bicycles are built with choice parts assembled around Shimano(tm) XT or XTR components.  Currently in addition to a completely custom bicycle you can also choose to build around two styles of frame; the Wenatchee in steel and the Chelan in titanium.  Both are designed for great all-around performance.  Look for the Wenatchee to be featured in January.

Materials - Columbus, Dedacciai, and Reynolds steel / Ancotech American titanium.

Joining Methods - Titanium can only be joined by TIG-welding, while steel can be TIG-welded, fillet-brazed, and on occasion lugged when we build a rigid custom fork.
