We have tested over 100 different products 
searching for a
dependable lubricant for the threads of our coupling. We tested
products containing Teflon® as an ingredient as well as a
multitude of greases, anti seize compounds and oils. We even
tried products such as bees wax and other wax and stick type
lubricants.
Nothing comes even close to 100% Teflon® PTFE resin for this application.
Threaded stainless steel and titanium fasteners have a
tendency to gall when they rub against one another. Galling can
cause threaded fasteners to cold weld or stick together in such a
manner that they can't be tightened or loosened. Galling can also interfere with
the coupling nut being properly tightend since much of the force is used in
overcoming friction rather than holding the coupling tightly together. This phenomenon
is especially common on threaded titanium parts. With this grease
we were unable to force galling (sticking) even under conditions
of extreme pressure. Other greases and anti seize compounds don't work even
close to as good as 100% Dupont Teflon® Bearing Grease. Some oils, greases and spray
lubes which have Teflon® PTFE resin as an additive allowed our test sample
to stick almost immediately. An added plus over anti seize
compounds and grease is that 100% Teflon® is white so it won't
stain your clothes.
